Open Pores
Our skin is covered with pilosebaceous units, which include a hair follicle and a sebaceous gland responsible for producing sebum to keep the skin hydrated. Open pores on the nose, a common concern, are actually sebaceous filaments that are often mistaken for blackheads. These filaments are found in the lining of the pores, and their function is to channel sebum for even distribution, ensuring proper hydration. However, when pores become clogged with sebum, they become more visible, which can create the appearance of enlarged pores.
